Two stoned to death over illicit love affair

Four people have been killed in two separate incidents in Nathu village, Igembe North District.

In the first incident, a man and a woman were stoned to death by angry villagers on suspicion they were having an illicit love affair.

Mr Alexander Mukangu, 45, and Ms Lillian Nkatha were allegedly found in a compromising position in a miraa farm house.

Mr Mukangu was said to have taken Ms Nkatha to his matrimonial home while his wife was away. Ms Nkatha was in her late 20s.

The wife got wind of the relationship and informed the villagers who confronted the two lovers.

On arrival at the home, they found the two in bed.

“They were beaten with stones and other assorted weapons. They died as they were being taken to hospital,” said Igembe police boss Ali Zimbu.

In another incident, two men said to belong to a criminal gang were shot dead as they guarded a miraa farm at night.

A gun was found next to the bodies of Mr Stanley Mugambi, 38, and Mr Japhet Michubu, 21.

According to Mr Zimbu, the two were criminals.

“We don’t know whether they were killed by a rival gang or they disagreed over something,” he said.

Cow thief killed

At the same time, a cattle rustler was lynched by a mob in Kenyenya District after he was found with a stolen cow.

Mr Geoffrey Ombiro, 20, from Bobasi, was reportedly found with the cow after suspicious villagers ordered him to stop for interrogation.

People tracking the stolen animal from Ibencho sub-location arrived and identified their cow. The group attacked the suspect and then set him ablaze.

In Nyahururu, double tragedy hit a family when a man stabbed his wife, killing her on the spot. He then committed suicide by jumping into a 50-foot well.

Mr Stephen Githinji confronted his wife, Ms Cecilia Ngenia Mburu, at her work place and demanded to know why she had spent the night in her mother’s house, Nyandarua police boss Jasper Ombati said.

“The woman told him it was wrong to go away for four days without telling her his whereabouts, adding she had decided to marry another man. Mr Githinji then stabbed her with a knife on the neck and stomach,” he said

The bleeding woman was pronounced dead on arrival in hospital.

Mr Githinji dived into his neighbour’s well and drowned to escape the neighbours’ wrath.

The man, a mason, had on Tuesday arrived home and was shocked to find his wife missing only to learn she was at her mother’s house.
