A primary school teacher has defiled five of his pupils during a lunch-hour ordeal that shocked villagers in Nyatike District.
Police rescued the 38 year-old teacher, said to be HIV positive, from an angry mob and locked him at the Macalder Police Station Thursday.
The girls, aged between 6 and 15 years, were reportedly defiled in turns by the teacher, who capitalised on the absence of his colleagues, who were our for lunch.
Nyatike District Police boss Samuel Anampiu confirmed the incident and the arrest of the teacher, saying he would be arraigned in court to answer charges related to defilement and child molestation.
Mr Anampiu said the teacher had been subjected to medical examination that established his status.
He said the defiled girls were rushed to hospital for medical intervention to prevent possible HIV infection.
According to the officer, villagers rushed to the school, a small private academy in the area, upon hearing the cries of the pupils.
They roughed him up before the police, who got wind of the incident just in time rushed to his rescue and whisked him away to the police station.
The OCPD appealed to parents to take extra precaution and to ensure they take their children to credible institutions where their safety would be guaranteed.
