DUBAI — A salesman, who allegedly tried to lure an undercover policewoman to pay and have sex with him, stood trial in the Court of Misdemeanour on Thursday.
The 34-year-old Kenyan salesman, who works at a furniture shop at a shopping mall in Rashidiya, denied the charges.
The defendant was arrested on May 18 by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers after the policewoman informed them about her conversation with him.
The woman officer said during interrogation that the defendant made indecent moves before her when she went to his shop wearing an abaya and sheila after midnight. Then, he offered her sex at a discounted rate.
As evidence, the prosecution enclosed in the case file an audio CD of the conversation the policewoman had with the defendant.
In that conversation, the defendant is believed to be offering the officer sex with two men. She was to pay for the sex but with 10 per cent discount.
However, when questioned by the police, the defendant claimed that he was only talking about the discount for a bed of high quality that would cost Dh38,000. He denied that he told the complainant that the bed was good, comfortable for sex and would withstand sexual activities.
The CID officers were informed about the defendant’s verbal harassment of women customers in his shop. He used to tell them that they would enjoy having sex with him and that they could get a discount.
