Rapper Prezzo’s former bodyguard George Otieno, known in entertainment circles as Oty, barely escaped alive an hijacking incident recently. Oty, who now works for Congolese businessman Cedric Kilendes as a bodyguard, was hijacked from a popular night spot in the Nairobi CBD at 3am and taken to Karura Forest where he was beaten up and asked to reveal the whereabouts of his boss.
Speaking to Word Is, Oty said, “I saw around six men walk into the club we were in in Hurlingham. I sensed something was amiss as one of them insulted us and I told my boss we had to leave the club immediately. That is when we went to another club; where they followed and hijacked me.”
He added, “They came straight to me and asked for my boss Cedric. I had to protect him by shielding him from the men and he managed to escape. While getting out of the club, a fight ensued and about 20 men bundled me into a waiting car.” Oty said he was then driven in a convoy of six cars to Karura Forest where he was beaten up and threatened at gunpoint.
According to police records, the Congolese businessman – who is a regular visitor to Kenya- together with Oty recorded a statement at the Central Police Station. In the police Occurrence Book report number OB44/9/02/2011, George Otieno claims he was hijacked, taken to Karura forest and assaulted by Tinta Akasha, a member of the famous Akasha family. Oty is currently nursing serious wounds as a result of the assault.
