Man Held After Sitting Exam for Brother

A middle-aged man was arrested for sitting a Form Four examination paper on behalf of his younger brother.

He was caught after writing the English paper (creative composition and essay) at Kebaroti Mixed Secondary School in Kuria East District.

He was locked up at the Kehancha Police Station pending an appearance in court.

District police boss Paul Wanjama said the man presented himself as candidate Joseph Boke, Index number 718204005, and sat the paper.

Police, acting on a tip-off, pounced on him at the end of the test.

Fled to Tanzania

District education officer Francis Onyango said the man, who is a trader, is an elder brother of the candidate.

The candidate fled to Tanzania soon after learning that his brother had been arrested.

The trader was a student at the school and sat for his examinations in 2008. He obtained a C-.

“We are also seeking to establish if the school and the exams officials were aware because it is not easy for an outsider to enter an examination room without being detected by teachers and exams officials at the school,” Mr Onyango said.
