A 20-year-old man was yesterday arraigned before a Murang’a court charged with raping and indecently assaulting a 90-year-old woman.
Mr Jackson Kimuri, a casual labourer from Gathuki-ini Village, was alleged to have broken into the woman’s
house on April 24 at midnight and demanded for money which the complainant did not have.
The charge sheet stated that Mr Kimuri attempted to silence the granny and repeatedly raped her and indecently touched her private parts without her consent.
The complainant said it was raining heavily and her
attempts to scream for help did not bear fruits. and heard on January 24.
In the same court, four men were charged with stealing coffee from New Weithaga factory in Murang’a County.
Mr Benson Kinyeru, Mr John Kamau, Mr Bernard Kiarie and Mr Nelson Kiarie denied stealing 300 kilogrammes of coffee berries valued at Sh30, 000.
The magistrate denied them bail and were remanded.
