On behalf of Kenyans Connect, and together with the support and partnership of the Embassy of Kenya, Washington DC, we want to share with you some information about a Diaspora event – Kenyans Connect 2012 – to be held February 8-12 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. This event will be scheduled alongside the IRB World Sevens Rugby Circuit USA leg that, as many of you already know, attracts world class teams and draws a fan base of over 2,000 Kenyans living in the Diaspora who attend to support to the Kenya Sevens team. We have chosen to have the Event at this time to harness the presence of the diverse group of Kenyans in attendance.
Many of you have asked how you can support and get involved and we would like to start by thanking you for your interest and support. We would love to have you join our marketing committee and also request your assistance in the effort of promoting and marketing the event quite aggressively over the next few weeks, as Rugby Sevens comes up in exactly a month. If interested, we would love to have you join us on our next conference call. We have been in Nairobi the past month, pursuing sponsorship, and now want to really focus on marketing. We will be sending out a flyer shortly and additional info to use.
Quick background: Kenyans Connect 2012 will be an all-day Diaspora conference to be held on Thursday immediately prior to the weekend rugby festivities. It will focus on engaging the Kenyan Diaspora with industry leaders to discuss development and awareness of the opportunities available for them in Kenya. It will also provide a unique opportunity for corporates and government stakeholders to be an integral part in shaping the growing trend of the Kenyan Diasporas’ interest and investment in Kenya’s future. A golf tournament will be held on the Friday.
Other committees open, if interested are, Content, Hospitality/Logistics & Golf. Let us know if you would like to be involved in any of these as well. We want and need your feedback and input.
So the bottom line is… Everyone will really be coming in for Rugby so we are asking Kenyans to come in Wednesday night for a welcome reception, and in time for the one day event on Thursday. In addition, this is VEGAS! We want it to be FUN, DIFFERENT and ENGAGING! It is for the Diaspora, by the Diaspora. It’s about us! So expect it to be a VERY different ‘event’!
We have a Facebook page and a website www.kenyansconnect.com. Registration should be live by Monday. Also here is the facebook event page. https://www.facebook.com/events/298783500157613/ Kindly spread within and invite your networks and friends. We would greatly appreciate it! For those of you who have already confirmed interest! THANK YOU!…and are excited to work with you!
