THE HAMILTON SPECTATOR
A 25-year-old Burlington mover is out to make city political history.
By becoming the city’s first black mayor.
Kenya native Ernest Otieno is challenging incumbent Cam Jackson and three others for the mayoralty. Citizens head to the polls Oct. 25.
Otieno’s candidacy comes at a time when the Burlington Inclusivity Subcommittee has raised concerns about the lack of minorities on city boards and agencies.
Otieno, who is employed with Taylor Moving, said he comes from a family with a long history of public service. He has no previous political experience.
He has lived in Burlington for eight years.
