Kenyan man charged in armed robbery in Olathe, KS

Prosecutors today charged a man with an armed robbery stemming from an incident Sunday in Olathe.

After the robbery, a victim leaving the scene was among two men in a vehicle that struck a pedestrian, who was not seriously injured, police said.

Eliud Kamau, 19, of Olathe, has been charged with aggravated robbery in connection with the incident that took place near the 16700 block of 127th Street. During the robbery, he fired a handgun and took money, but no one was injured, according to police and court records.

The robber fled on foot and two people, including a man who was robbed of money, drove off in a vehicle. It soon hit the pedestrian near Harold Street and Ridgeview Road and left the scene, police said.

The driver was cited for failing to yield right of way to a pedestrian, police said.
