Inter alert City and Villa with Mariga availability

The Premier League duo of Aston Villa and Manchester City have been alerted to the availability of Inter Milan midfielder McDonald Mariga who has fallen out of favour under new manager Leonardo.

Mariga, 23, signed for Inter Milan under Jose Mourinho in January 2010 after a move to Manchester City broke down because his application for a work-permit was rejected. Roberto Mancini is still an admirer of the tough-tackling midfielder and could move to purchase the Kenyan international in the summer

Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier is also keeping tabs on Mariga, dubbed the Kenyan destroyer, according to talkSPORT and is eager to add some steal to his Villa Park midfield. Sources in Italy suggest Houllier is interested in the Inter defensive midfielder, who is the first Kenyan to win the Champions League.

City are thought to be the favourites to land Mariga with the player still disappointed to miss out on a move to Eastlands. The Kenyan international would be the ideal replacement for Patrick Vieira who looks set to leave City in the summer.
